Anju Jain, Devika Palshikar to take charge of Baroda Women

Former India captain Anju Jain and allrounder Devika Palshikar have been appointed on the Baroda Women’s coaching staff after their contracts as the head coach and the assistant coach of the Bangladesh women’s team expired in early March following the Women’s T20 World Cup. While Jain will be in charge of batting and wicketkeeping at Baroda, Palshikar will be looking after the bowling and fielding departments.ESPNcricinfo understands the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) had formally approached Jain and Palshikar last month after non-communication on the part of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) left the Indian pair without any clarity on their future with Bangladesh. The BCA finalised both appointments at its apex council meeting on Tuesday, when the decision to remove Atul Bedade as the head coach was also taken, “considering the sensitivity” of the sexual-harassment allegations levelled at him by the players which had led to his suspension in March.”It was a [conscious] decision by the association and the management to bring in female coaches in Anju Jain and Devika Palshikar,” Rajkuvardevi Gaekwad, the Baroda women’s selection committee chief, told ESPNcricinfo. “Besides, we had been trying to rope in Anju for the past three years and were on the verge of finalising our talks with Devika in 2018, when the evening before she was due to hear from us, the BCB confirmed her appointment, so our plans never worked out. This time they did, and we are happy that we could get such vastly experienced coaches on board for specific disciplines.”Under Jain and Palshikar, Bangladesh lifted their maiden multi-team title, in June 2018, by defeating heavyweights India at the Women’s Asia Cup final in Kuala Lumpur. However, they failed to win any matches in the T20 World Cups in 2018 and 2020. The coaching staff was due to be part of a review meeting with the BCB officials after the last edition in Australia but, according to Jain, they have not yet heard from the board.”Before we – Devika, Kavita Pandya (the trainer), and I – returned to India, we spoke to the BCB CEO (Nizamuddin Chowdhury), who had kindly agreed to hold a meeting with us and other board officials about our performance at the World Cup because we, as the coaching and support staff, needed to address a few concerns from our side and they, too, needed to have their internal meeting, which sounded fair enough,” Jain said. “But, unfortunately, we never had that meeting nor did we get any clarity from the board.”It has, however, been a positive and learning experience working with the players because they have been pretty open to the changes we tried to bring about in training and practice; they have given their best.”The BCB, meanwhile, is understood to not have been keen on renewing Jain and Palshikar’s contracts although there has been no official announcement from the board yet. The fate of Pandya, too, remains unclear.”Their contract with the BCB ended in March and had no obligation or commitment with us,” Touhid Mahmood, the women’s wing manager of the board, said. “They didn’t contact us, and we learnt about it (their new job) through the media. Our process of looking for a new coach is in place, but we have been slowed down by the current (Covid-19) pandemic.”Jain and Palshikar, whose previous coaching stints on the domestic circuit were with Vidarbha and Goa respectively, underlined that their job at Baroda had to start with creating an environment of trust in the wake of the allegations around Bedade.”I’ve been a firm believer that appointment of coaches – for men’s or women’s teams – has to be based on merit and passion, not gender,” Jain said. “That said, there’s no denying that given it’s unfortunate what’s happened, our work with the Baroda girls would begin with rebuilding the trust there should be between a coach and his or her players because that’s key to any team’s performance.”Palshikar added that their appointments could also offer an evolved perspective on prevailing gender-biases around coaching in India. “I think for a coach as respected as Anju and my being approached as a unit and coming together [to train a domestic side] after our time with a national team should help administrators and players [in India] look past any debates [inclined towards favouring male coaches] because of the gender factor. Labelling all male coaches as [morally] bad for women’s teams because they are ‘male’ is as unreasonable as labelling women’s coaches as being incapable or inferior to men because of their gender. Prevalent as the latter outlook especially is, both need a re-look into.”

Cricket Australia chief: India tour 'nine out of 10' chance of taking place

Kevin Roberts also said there remains a possibility the men’s team could tour England

ESPNcricinfo staff22-May-2020Kevin Roberts, the Cricket Australia chief executive, has given India’s tour a “nine out of 10″ chance of happening later this year as the game grapples with how to resume amid the Covid-19 pandemic. He also indicated there was a chance Australia could still undertake their limited-overs trip to England which was originally schedule for July but could happen in September. The visit of India is vital to Cricket Australia’s financial future with a figure of A$ 300 million attached to it. There have been some positive noises from the BCCI around making the trip that would include four Tests and three ODIs – with a suggestion more one-dayers could be added – even if India are required to quarantine on arrival.ALSO READ: Cricket’s comeback from Covid-19: the state of the gameThe expectation remains that there will not be crowds at matches during the Australia summer and there could yet be a restricted number of venues used for internationals to aid bio-security measures.”I guess there’s no such thing as certainty in today’s world so I can’t say 10 [out of 10], but I’m going to say nine out of 10,” Roberts told . “With the variable being, who would know whether we can have crowds … I’d be really surprised if we can’t get the Indian tour away. But I wouldn’t, hand on heart suggest we’ll have full crowds from the start. We’ll just have to see how that goes.”Virat Kohli and Tim Paine shake hands after the series•Mark Evans/StringerIt could yet be that the Australia men’s team resumes action overseas with Roberts not ruling out that the tour of England can proceed. CA is in regular conversations with the ECB as they plan for bio-secure series against West Indies and Pakistan in July and August.”I think there’s some chance we could send a team over,” Roberts said. “Obviously we won’t jeopardise the safety of the players, but the best test of that is that the West Indian and Pakistan tours of England before we’re due to tour. We hope they go off without a hitch.”The T20 World Cup, which was scheduled at the start of the Australian season in October and November, is unlikely to take place. Further ICC discussions will happen later this month with the expectation it will be moved to some point in 2021 – perhaps a 12-month delay.Afghanistan are due to visit Australia for a one-off Test in November but it remains to be seen whether that will stay in the schedule. There was also set to be a limited-overs series against Zimbabwe in August, staged in the northern parts of the country, and while that has not yet been officially canned it is not expected to take place although Darwin in the Northern Territory will be the first place in Australia to see cricket resume next month.

Chelsea discuss hiring UEFA Coach of the Year winner to replace Pochettino

Chelsea chiefs have discussed the possibility of hiring a UEFA Coach of the Year winner to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea manager rumours

The Argentine has had plenty of disappointing moments during his first season at Stamford Bridge, including the EFL Cup final defeat to Liverpool at Wembley and, more recently, the 5-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League. However, that defeat at the Emirates is Chelsea’s only loss in their last 12 top-flight matches, showing how Pochettino could be turning the tide in London.

Despite this, there are still plenty of rumours regarding a change on the touchline, with former Blues bosses Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte mentioned as candidates to return to the club. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi is thought to be a leading candidate, should Chelsea part ways with Pochettino, who recently said when asked about his future once again:

"I think enough is enough. All the managers need time to translate their ideas and their philosophy. More when the team is like this squad is. We need to have time. It's not my decision.

"It's difficult to see every single week that I'm under scrutiny and I'm under judgement. But it's not my decision to be here or not to be here. If we want the history of Chelsea, I think it's a lot of work to do. We will see if we have time to be in this way.”

Another update has now emerged regarding a 4-2-3-1 style manager who is currently looking for a new job.

Chelsea in Stamford Bridge talks for Hansi Flick

According to Football Insider in the last 48 hours, Chelsea are still undecided when it comes to Pochettino’s long-term future at the club, and have therefore been discussing potential replacements.

Pochettino’s position will be reviewed at the end of the season, with top-level Chelsea chiefs holding internal talks about bringing in Hansi Flick, who is currently out of work, so could be a stress-free and swift appointment.

Flick left his position as manager of the German national team last September, and before that, was the boss of Bayern Munich. He won seven major honours at the Allianz Arena during his two-year stay, including the Champions League, and was named the UEFA Coach of the Year for 2019/20.

The 59-year-old averaged an impressive 2.53 points per game with Bayern in 86 matches and came in for praise from Thomas Muller in 2020, with the forward saying: "The coach's thumbprint is unmistakable. We all want the same thing, and are pulling in the same direction.

"The last time we were so well drilled was under Pep Guardiola. Every player was allowed to add their own touch to their position based on their preferences, strengths and weaknesses, but the role was always clear. There were no ifs, buts or maybes. Hansi gives us clear guidelines – not options, but specifics. That's why we were able to come back so well after he took charge."

A comparison to Pep Guardiola by Muller is high praise indeed, so it’ll be interesting to see if the Blues firm up their interest in Flick over the coming months.

Man Utd eyeing Ten Hag upgrade who could be "like Ange Postecoglou"

After Manchester United’s lucky victory over Championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup on Sunday, each game between now and the end of the season will be vital for Erik ten Hag.

At two points during Wednesday’s 4-2 victory over Sheffield United, the Red Devils trailed twice to the visitors, and a defeat would’ve been the final nail in the coffin for the Dutchman.

Luckily, Bruno Fernandes was on call to save his boss and his teammates from embarrassment yet again, as United eventually pulled away.

But the consensus amongst the media is still that Ten Hag’s figure as United manager is extremely uncertain, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe wanting a more attractive brand of football.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at a potential replacement for the former Ajax coach, who’s been extremely impressive this season.

Man Utd’s search for a new manager

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Ruben Amorim is under 'serious consideration' to replace Ten Hag this summer.

The Sporting CP coach is currently one of the most talked-about managers on the planet, having been heavily linked with Liverpool and West Ham recently.

Ruben Amorim for Sporting Lisbon

It’s reported that despite Ratcliffe drawing up a list of multiple managers, the Portuguese boss is at the top of that list.

What may give the Red Devils an advantage over some of their competitors is that Amorim’s release clause comes down to as little as £8.6m this summer, as United fall under the bracket of an ‘elite club.’

How Amorim compares to Ten Hag

The hype surrounding Amorim’s name is well and truly real, and based on the way his Sporting side has been playing this season, it’s no wonder teams are desperate to bring him in.

The 39-year-old is far from the most experienced of coaches in Europe, but his brand of football enables him to win games, which is the most important factor for a club like Man United.

Since moving to the Lisbon giants after just 13 games in charge of Braga, the in-demand boss has an incredible record, winning 146 matches in 208 games.

This season, he boasts even better statistics, winning 37 of his 49 matches in charge across all competitions and losing just five times, which is 12 fewer defeats than Ten Hag this season.

However, as you can see by the table above, Amorim seems to have a more drilled side that knows how to play their individual role perfectly, hence the fact that they’re on track to win the Liga Portugal.

Despite prioritising strong defensive foundations, as shown by their 13 clean sheets and 27 goals conceded in 30 games, the former Braga boss has developed the perfect balance.

Ruben Amorim for Sporting Lisbon

Sporting are by far the top scorers in Portugal this season, netting an incredible 2.9 goals per game, 1.4 more than United, which makes his side extremely difficult to defeat.

His 3-4-2-1 formation is one of the main reasons for this, with ball-playing stars all over the field enabling him to give freedom to the players in possession, which makes him “like Ange Postecoglou,” according to former Sporting ace Pedro Porro, in terms of his “ambition” and a “clear identity.”

The last point is particularly relevant to Man United – who also reportedly have Postecoglou on their shortlist – at this moment, with Ten Hag’s lack of approach and style being a "real concern" for legendary former United captain, Roy Keane.

A change of system would mean that new signings would have to be a guarantee, but there’s no doubt that Amorim has the potential to return the glory days to Old Trafford with the backing of the new ownership.

Chelsea approached by anti-racism organisation to explain handling of Enzo Fernandez Copa America final controversy

Chelsea have been contacted by anti-discrimination organisation, Kick It Out, regarding their response to the racism scandal involving Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandez racism storm still not overKick It Out remain in touch with ChelseaHanding Fernandez the armband has not gone down wellWHAT HAPPENED?

The controversy erupted after a video surfaced showing Fernandez and several of his Argentina teammates singing a racist and discriminatory chant following their Copa America final victory over Colombia. The footage, which was posted on Fernandez's social media account, sparked outrage and led to calls for strict action against the midfielder. Subsequently, the midfielder issued a face-to-face apology to his Chelsea teammates, attempting to clear the air and heal any rifts that may have formed within the squad.

Despite Fernandez's personal apology, the handling of the situation by Chelsea as a club has not gone unnoticed. According to Kick It Out, a leading anti-discrimination organisation, has expressed its dissatisfaction with how the London-based club has navigated the controversy and have held talks with Chelsea officials to voice their disappointment and frustration over the club's actions—or lack thereof—in dealing with the issue.

DID YOU KNOW?

One of the key points of contention for Kick It Out is that despite the controversy, Fernandez has continued to play a prominent role at Chelsea. In fact, he was handed the captain's armband in the absence of regular club captain Reece James, who is currently sidelined with an injury. This decision has raised eyebrows, with many questioning the message it sends in light of the ongoing racism scandal. Moreover, Chelsea have not provided clarity on whether Fernandez faced any formal disciplinary action for his involvement in the controversial chant.

FIFA is also believed to be investigating the case but has yet to come out with a judgement. As the controversy continues to unfold, Chelsea will be closely watched to see how they handle the external pressures surrounding the Fernandez saga. They will be back in action against Bournemouth on September 14.

Marcus Rashford has had his shot at Man Utd redemption but hasn't taken it – now Erik ten Hag should be as ruthless with him as with Casemiro and bench both

The striker looked lost against Liverpool and the time has come for Amad Diallo to take his place in the Red Devils attack

Manchester United fans do not usually boo their own players, even during an atrocious defeat like Sunday's trouncing by Liverpool. But lately they have been making their displeasure heard at Erik ten Hag's substitutions.

Last season, the Dutchman got an earful of abuse for taking off Rasmus Hojlund for Anthony Martial against Brighton, and received a similarly angry reaction when he took the Danish striker off for Amad Diallo against Burnley late in the campaign.

Martial has now left the club and Hojlund was injured for the Liverpool clash, but boos still rang out when Ten Hag made his second change after ruthlessly hauling Casemiro off for Toby Collyer, bringing on Amad for Alejandro Garnacho. The Argentina international is still in his honeymoon period with United fans, but he was not playing well at all against Liverpool.

The reaction, therefore, could only be interpreted as them venting their fury that Marcus Rashford was remaining on the pitch. Rashford had scored in two of his previous three games at home to Liverpool, but he was one of the worst performers in another dreadful defeat.

His malaise is no longer a surprise, it is a pattern that is repeated regularly, and Ten Hag needs to stop giving him so many chances.

    Backing away

Casemiro was the main scapegoat for the latest humiliating defeat under Ten Hag after his two costly errors, but Rashford was not far behind him. He had no shots on goal in the 90 minutes and took fewer touches than Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Yet it was his lack of confidence, which at times looked like a lack of interest, which was hardest to understand.

The flashpoint came when Rashford was in the final third and was about to take on Ibrahima Konate, but backed away from the duel and started dribbling backwards. That led to a chorus of boos from the home fans, who have developed an increasingly fractious relationship with their homegrown star despite him being a fan favourite just two years ago.

Former United captain Gary Neville was in an unforgiving mood in the commentary box. "There's no confidence. He had a one-on-one with Konate and he's ended back up at centre-back. The United fans aren't going to let him get away with that," he said.

"Whatever happens, you still have to go for it and take the one-on-one on. He might not be having a great day, great time, but he's just turned back and that tells you where his head is at."

'Motivated to make a good season'

Ever since breaking into the United team at the age of 18, Rashford's career has followed a curious pattern of one excellent season followed by a disappointing one. His stunning debut campaign in 2015-16, when he struck eight goals in the space of three months, including a brace against Arsenal and the winner away to Manchester City, was followed by an underwhelming campaign under Jose Mourinho, in which he scored 10 goals.

He had brilliant back-to-back campaigns in 2019-20 and 2020-21, but they were followed by a miserable season in 2021-22, when he struggled with injuries and form. His next campaign was his best ever, however, when he scored 30 goals in all competitions and was rightly rewarded with a lucrative new contract.

He could not sustain it and last season ran into trouble on and off the pitch, scoring just eight Premier League goals and getting punished by the club for going on a drunken night out in Belfast and missing training the next day. Given what had happened before, though, there was hope that Rashford would bounce back.

There were positive noises about his attitude in pre-season and Ten Hag was impressed by what he saw from Rashford, saying in early August: "He is working very hard, very good, very engaged, very ambitious and motivated to make a good season."

  • AFP

    Wishful thinking

But once the real season began, we have seen the same Rashford of the previous campaign. He missed a glorious chance to score in the Community Shield, hitting the post with the goal gaping after a dream pass from Garnacho. He then looked rusty in the Premier League opener against Fulham and botched a pass to Garnacho in stoppage-time, even though his team-mate still should have scored. Against Brighton a week later, he ruined two promising attacks by getting caught offside, provoking fierce criticism from Alan Shearer.

He was poor against Liverpool too, providing just one good piece of play when he presented Joshua Zirkzee with a headed chance. Talk of a genuine revival of form after his summer reset now looks to be wishful thinking, and we are seeing a very similar version of Rashford to last season.

"It's been going on for 14 months. He scored 30 goals the season before last. I'd like to think he can get his confidence back but it's looking like a struggle," Neville added. "The game doesn't look enjoyable for him right now and that's sad. It's sad watching that kid because he has been a joy for United at times in his career, but it is getting hard work for him and hard work for fans to watch him."

    Not enjoying himself

Similar comments were made of Rashford's lack of joy last season. Shearer remarked after a dismal defeat at Newcastle that Rashford was "not happy" and was "lacking desire". Rio Ferdinand questioned his work rate and admitted he was not a leader, and needed others to motivate him and push him.

Those concerns have not gone away. Graeme Souness said ahead of the Liverpool game that he did not even believe Rashford had really had a good career. He also questioned his attitude, saying: "He’s a young man with enormous potential, but it looks like it’s a burden for him to turn up on a Saturday and play for 90 minutes. When I think about Rashford, I don’t think about the wonderful goals or his pace; I think about things like the game against Luton last season. He was just jogging around and Ross Barkley ran around him three or four times."

"The lads won't approach it any different," Scarr said, per the . "Obviously there's the atmosphere and there's the bragging rights with the owners being American, and stuff like that.

"We will go with a game-plan and try and execute it the best we can but it will just be a normal game like we have set out for every game this season. Just go there and try and get a result like we have done in the other games. Hopefully if we put in a performance like we have been doing, we will be fine. The game, which has already been dubbed 'the Hollywood derby', has major implications, with Birmingham also aiming for promotion after being relegated from the Championship last season.

From 'when' to 'what': Now that Mauricio Pochettino is the USMNT coach, what style will he play and what tactics will he deploy?

Pochettino is finally in charge, so what approach will he take and what impact will he have?

For the last month, American soccer has been hyperfixed on landing Mauricio Pochettino as head coach of the U.S. men's national team. Thanks to the official announcement Tuesday night that the former Chelsea, Tottenham and PSG manager will now be leading the USMNT, the topic immediately shifts.

It's no longer when. It's now what.

What approach will he take? What tactics will he deploy? What style best fits the U.S. roster? And what impact will he have?

When it comes to international coaching, there's always a focus on tactics, and Pocehttino will bring fresh ideas in that regard. However, it is worth acknowledging the realities of international management: implementing grand plans can be a challenge.

Pochettino will try, though. He'll bring his style and his mentality to a USMNT group that is lacking both. This summer – crashing out of Copa America, then failing to beat either Canada or New Zealand over the past week – reminded us of that fact.

This team is still very much a work in progress, and there's a limited window to make the progress needed before the World Cup begins in June of 2026, in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

What kind of ideas will Pochettino bring? What will his strengths be? What will it all look like on the pitch? GOAL takes a look.

GettyUSMNT under Gregg Berhalter

Every coach has their own identity, both on and off the pitch. For the last few years, the USMNT has been defined by Gregg Berhalter.

Even when Berhalter was away from the team and the U.S. was led by interim coaches Anthony Hudson, B.J. Callaghan and Mikey Varas, the principles were always similar. Under Berhalter, the U.S. largely played in a 4-3-3, although that had shifted to more of a 4-2-3-1 over the last year. There were times when Berhalter threw in wrinkles, such as a 4-4-2 against England at the World Cup, but the setup has largely been consistent.

In terms of style, the U.S. has been a ball-dominant team. One of Berhalter's big goals was to change the perception of American soccer, both through substance and style. Stylistically, he wanted the U.S. to be the protagonist, to be the team that controlled the pace of play and forced teams to play on the back foot. It was a substantial change from the old U.S. teams, which were largely based on counterattacking.

You can expect a big difference between Berhalter and Pochettino. With a new coach coming in, expect a more aggressive approach than the USMNT have played over the past six years.

AdvertisementImagoThe bread-and-butter tactics

Marlon Fossey put it well after the USMNT's draw with New Zealand: the USMNT's players better be ready to run.

"He likes fitness a lot," Fossey said. "But I think, yeah, it'll be different for us to have a coach of that caliber, a coach of that experience. These are exciting times.

"He's very hard on the players. He likes the fitness element, but also, I've heard that he's a very good man-manager, very good from a player-to-player perspective. It should be fun."

Pochettino is known for asking his team to press and press hard. He generally sets his team up in a 4-2-3-1 designed to counter-press, to win the ball back in good areas and to dictate the game from there. Much of his style is centered around intensity. If you don't bring it, he'll find someone else who will.

Part of the reason Pochettino is so effective with young players is that they tend to be more malleable and more willing to do the endurance work required to make his system work.

The Argentine is also known for his flexibility, though. He's had to be, considering the different style of teams he's coached. Paris Saint-Germain can't play the same way as, say, Southampton. It's the nature of these things.

As a result, Pochettino isn't married to a set formation or necessarily a set style. The intensity and energy, though, always remain. Because of that, you can expect major adjustments, particularly after recent USMNT performances that have lacked any semblance of pace, poise or persistence.

GettyPlayers Poch will love

The toughest part of being an international coach is the inability to pick your players. There are no transfer windows to allow a coach to simply sign a new starter. He has to work with the players available at a national level.

Based on Pochettino's past work, you can look at this U.S. team and project several players he will love, and several players that will really benefit from working with him.

Chief among them? Christian Pulisic. Pochetino knows how to work with superstars and, straight tallk, Pulisic is this team's only real superstar. Consider what Pochettino did with Heung-min Son on the wing, and you begin to wonder what kind of ideas he'll have for Pulisic.

"Football is about scoring and if you want to do that, you have to go forward," Son said of his time under Pochettino. "That is what he wants me to do. I don't want to do difficult things, just go straight."

There are other players that will remind Pochettino of some of the best he's worked with. Yunus Musah has the potential to be a Moussa Dembele-like presence. Folarin Balogun will benefit from the type of advice and coaching that made Harry Kane a star. Could Gio Reyna, when healthy, turn into a Dele Alli type of player for this team?

Because of his success particularly at Southampton and Tottenham, Pochettino is known as a coach that takes good players and makes them great. He's known for taking decent teams and helping them compete against the best. And based on the recent sample size, that's exactly what this team needs.

At the 2022 World Cup, the USMNT was the second-youngest team in the competition. Though there are countless familiar names, many of this team's players are still not yet in their prime.

Pulisic, who turns 26 next week, is getting there. Weston McKennie just turned 26, while Tyler Adams is 25. Aside from Tim Ream and Matt Turner, every Copa America starter for the USMNT was under 27. This team is still very young compared to most that will be in their path at the 2026 World Cup.

That includes the likes of Musah and Reyna, both of whom are 21. Balogun is just 22. These players, despite all of their experience, are just getting started. Their careers are only just getting started.

And while that youthfulness can sometimes explain mistakes and inconsistent play, at some point soon, youth won't be an excuse. Particularly when the World Cup arrives, this team won't be able to blame inexperience for losses. By 2026, this group needs to be hitting their stride, regardless of age.

That's where Pochettino comes in. He's a coach who thrives on building teams that, when he walks in, aren't a finished product. The USMNT is nowhere close. This summer was proof of that. There are still a lot of lessons this team needs to learn when it comes to intensity, effort and winning.

Pochettino is a coach that can teach them. He's been hailed by many as a fantastic man-manager, one that convinces players to buy in both on and off the field. It's why so many Chelsea players were sad to see him go this summer despite all of the chaos around the club.

"As a man-manager, he would push you if you slack off," said rising star Cole Palmer. "He’s been really good for me. He kept me relaxed and we had a really good relationship. He had a tough job, half the team has been injured – some very important players, too – so it’s been difficult for him, but everyone loved him. All the players did and he’s been very important for me as well.”

The nature of the international game means that Pochettino won't be around these USMNT players on a daily basis, but he will still be able to make them better in his limited time with them. That part of it is worth remembering, though: Pochettino's impact will be different on the international side than as a club-level coach.
